As a principal, it gives me immense pleasure to extend warm greetings to all the visitors of this website and I also express my pleasure in having the opportunity to introduce this institution.
As Medical Education places a great onus on anyone pursuing it, not only does it gives, one the power to save a life but may also result in an action which can take a life. It was therefore, correctly observed by Mark Reid that “you study to prepare for the day when you are the only thing between a patient and the grave”.
With state-of-the-art facilities, experienced faculty and a supportive learning environment, we strive to empower our students to become compassionate healthcare professionals and lifelong learners. The medical faculty at K.K. Medical College & Hospital has been chosen keeping this in mind and they are repeatedly reminded of this onerous task.
It is the vision and mission of the Institute to inculcate among the students who walk down the corridors of K.K. Medical College & Hospital to learn the nuances of the art and science of Medicine, to treat the patients with compassion and empathy and develop bedside manners that reassures and comforts the patients while remaining honest about their diagnosis. Vocal tones, body language, openness, honesty and concealment of attitude are specially developed to ensure that the patient does not feel worried, frightened or unsatisfied. The curriculum is designed in such a way as to make attending to the sick an interesting, albeit a humbling experience. A great deal of stress is laid on development of a physician who can observe, record, tabulate, communicate and use his team of doctors to – Learn to see, learn to hear, learn to feel, learn to smell and know that ‘by practice alone you can become expert’.
I wish that our students become not only good doctors but also great and patriotic citizens and serve the society with dedication.
